I saw Ke$ha open for Rihanna last summer, and she put on a phenomenal show. Now the We R Who We R singer is hitting the open road on her first North American headlining tour – and tickets are up for grabs here.
In this e-mail interview, the 23-year-old performer opens up about her 2011 plans, passion for glitter, throwing killer surprise parties and what she looks for in a fan.
What do you hope to achieve in 2011?
World domination. Also working on growing laser feet.
What might surprise people about you?
I throw killer surprise parties. And I am certified to scuba dive in a cave at night.
Would you date a fan?
If he had a mullet and a beard and knew how to build things I certainly would consider it.
What can a lucky guy do to get noticed?
Grow a beard, cut their hair into a mullet and build me something.
How will this tour compare to your last one?
Bigger. Longer. Uncut.
How do you stay busy when you’re on the road?
I see the local sights in the towns and cities I visit and also I do promo for my album release and singles, and spend any remaining time covering myself in oil and glitter. There is almost zero down time.
Any foods you never eat when you’re on the road?
Squids. They are evil and scare me.
How do you keep in touch with loved ones when you’re touring?
I send letters via carrier pigeons and I am learning smoke signaling and morse code.
What separates your tour from others out there?
Everything. Plus glitter.
What songs do you cover in your performance?
I only do one cover – Fight For Your Right by the Beastie Boys – because it’s awesome and one of my all-time favorite songs.
What happened during the wildest night you had on tour?
I can’t go into specifics but let’s just say it involved live penguins, carnies, a gravitron, my mom’s placenta and shoe laces.
Favorite part of the day when you’re on tour?
Hanging with my band and having them grease me up and glitter me down. And jumping onto my fans / pulling them on stage during my show. Sweating off my glitter.
